About me
My name is Kelly Holt and I am enrolled in the Doctorate in Education (EdD), Instructional Technology and Distance Education program at Nova Southeastern University in South Florida, USA.
It was not long after launching online businesses that I noticed the pace of emerging technology and corresponding educational gaps. Initially, I began to advocate with a group and worked on lobbying state legislators for a change in K12 special education definitions because the State of Florida did not have clear definitions or objectives for dyslexic conditions that affected 1 in 5 students. Assistive technology (AT) and augmentation tools (AAC) advanced beyond what a school district could continually and operationally provide. Smart devices and the multi modalities can offer a huge benefit when integrated for dyslexic learners. My advocacy evolved from public schools to the homeschool community where parents sought advice on technology and media, and without the constraints of a school district were able to explore and use an array of innovative technological resources for intervention(s) and acceleration for their student learners. As a result, I have reviewed many curriculum designs and tried many educational products on the market. What started out as special education advocacy lead to learning the law, policy, and education pedagogy. The research has evolved into becoming a practitioner of learning design and technology and distance education.
What led me to pursing an EdD was this passionate journey and the hopes that with my business background and experience in the education sector that I could help shape innovative instructional designs and the future of education. There is quite a market development in advanced technologies and wearables, but measurable research data is still young and forthcoming for augmented reality(AR), wearables technology, or autonomous transit and robotics. As a visitor here, you are part of a fantastic community. A community that believes human performance with use of technology can maximize an individuals potential. The "Cyborg Lifestyle" brand is still in infancy and as I complete my doctorate program I will expand the reality of this concept and post instructional design projects and instructional technology inspiration here.
